Shane Gibson from Sacred Heart has earned StatSheet's NEC Player of the Week award for January 28th. Wagner's Eric Fanning has won StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week. Finally, Quinnipiac's Shaq Shannon has received StatSheet's NEC 6th Man of the Week.

Gibson was the NEC leader in scoring (29.5 pts per game) and free throws (10.5 per game). He also put up 50% shooting, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 4 three pointers per game. The Sacred Heart senior put these numbers up in wins against Bryant and Monmouth.

Gibson led scoring for the Pioneers with 26 points while adding 6 rebounds in an 87-76 win over Bryant. That was followed by a team-leading 33 points plus an additional 5 rebounds in an 82-68 victory over Monmouth.

This is a familiar honor for Shane Gibson, who has been selected StatSheet NEC Player of the Week three times. The runner-up this week is junior Louis Montes from Sacred Heart. Honorable mention goes to Jamal Olasewere, a senior from Long Island. The highest ranking player from Bryant was Dyami Starks who finished 13th.

StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week: Wagner's Eric Fanning

Eric Fanning averaged 24 minutes starting both games for Wagner. In a late 52-50 win over Mount St. Mary's, Fanning led all scoring and rebounding for the Seahawks with 12 and 7 respectively. Then in a massive 81-56 win against St. Francis (PA), he totaled 15 points and 5 rebounds.

This is a new honor for Eric Fanning, the first time he has won StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week. Stephan Hawkins from Robert Morris grabs runner-up. Tevin Falzon from Sacred Heart receives honorable mention.

StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week: Quinnipiac's Shaq Shannon

Shaq Shannon, a 6-1 Junior guard, averaged 26 minutes over two games for the Bobcats. In an 85-78 win against Central Connecticut State, Shannon took the lead in scoring for the Bobcats with 18 points on 60% shooting. After that, in a last-minute 58-56 win against Fairleigh Dickinson, he racked up 12 points and 6 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week honor for Shaq Shannon. Terrell Allen, a junior forward from Central Connecticut State, is runner up. Marcus Ware, a senior forward from Monmouth, receives honorable mention. Bryant has one StatSheet NEC Player of the Week win this season.
